Welcome to UK Hillwalker, a website dedicated to providing resources and information for hill walkers in the United Kingdom. My name is Mike, and I am the founder and editor of UK Hillwalker.
I retired a few years ago and have enjoyed walking for over 30 years, with much more time for longer walks since my retirement. Much of my time has been spent exploring the Peak District, which is my favourite, fairly local, place to walk. I have also enjoyed regular trips to North Wales and occasionally to Scotland and the Lake District.
Through my years of walking, I have learned a lot about equipment and safety precautions for walkers in the UK. I have experienced the happiness and beauty of walking in nature, as well as the challenges and risks that come with it, especially when walking alone as I usually do.
I created UK Hillwalker to share my love of hill walking with others and to provide a platform for walkers to connect, learn, and explore. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced walker, my goal is to provide you with useful information and resources that will enhance your walking experience and keep you safe.
On UK Hillwalker, you will find a variety of resources, including equipment reviews, safety tips, brief details of some of my own walks and anything else I think is relevant.
Thank you for visiting UK Hillwalker, and I hope that you find the information and resources on this website helpful for your next walking adventure. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to contact me using the contact form.
Happy walking!
Mike
